Started in 1958, the Associated
Historical Societies of Los Angeles County was formed to bring
together Historical Societies from throughout Los Angeles County and
individuals with an interest in history. At three
Mini-Conferences held during the year, these members are encouraged
to share their experiences with their historical societies so that
others might learn. The Mini-Conferences are held in a venue
that encourages those attend to learn, such as local Historical
Society Museums, libraries, or other locations of interest.
The Min-Conferences usually feature a speaker on local history along
with a tour of the facility where the meeting is being held or
another location.
The Associated Historical
Societies of Los Angeles County (ASHLAC) is an arm of the Conference
of California Historical Societies (CCHS) based in Stockton,
California. Members from Southern California are appointed as
Regional Vice-Presidents (RVPs) and are charged with the
responsibility of staying in touch with historical societies within
their districts and to provide those societies with advise and
direction if needed.
